Friday Favorites: Lace Shorts

Happy Friday everyone!

First off, thanks for sticking with me. This whole not having a computer situation is sucking so bad! I want nothing more but to post, but its so hard when I have to come to school to do it. My mom has offered to buy me a netbook as a temporary computer, but I honestly don't think its worth it. I mean I've typed up 2 out of 3 papers I have left. I am only in school for 1.5 more weeks. Why waste a few hundred on a netbook when it could go towards buying me a new laptop? So basically, I won't have a computer to mid-summer. I know that seems like forever from now. But I know I will need one by the beginning of July as I start an online class. But in the summer I won't mind using the school computers to update. Its just so weird because its always so full in the computer lab and I hate having people reading over my shoulder and what not. But most people don't take summer classes so it will be pretty dead, and I will feel more comfortable about updating my blog at school.

Other than that my week has been easy. School is really starting to wind down. I've finally been making calls about places to live for next year. I think we are going to be looking at a few places next week. We kind of need to hurry because our lease ends in early June. I've also applied for a few jobs and will continue applying everyday. I really want to work A LOT this summer so that I can play hard next summer. I've mentioned before that I am planning on living in Paris next summer with my friend Sarah. So I really would like to start saving up for that as its going to be pretty costly. I was thinking we would stay there for 3 months, but I just don't think its going to happen. Were probably only going to be able to stay for 1 month. And now that I have no computer, I would really like to buy myself a macbook. I don't know if I can afford it all by myself, but maybe I'll go half and half with my parents. So we will see. Please cross your fingers that I get a job offer :)

With the weather warming and summer swiftly approaching, I am excited to start wearing shorts. Although I love love love my skinny jeans, there is nothing better than feeling loose and free and letting the warmth hit my legs. I just always feel so constricted by jeans/pants. So when I wear a dress, shorts/skirts, or leggings I feel so free. This summer I really want to invest a few new pairs of shorts and I am very excited that lace shorts have been popping up everywhere! They are cute and feminine and still oh so perfect for summer. They look great for day or night, playtime or a night out. Here are some of my favorites:

5 Thoughts

1. I have 9 more days of class left. And will be done with finals in 3 weeks. So excited for summer & I can't believe its almost here. I can taste it on my lips :)
2. Today was a beautiful nice sunny day and is getting me all sorts of excited for summer.
3. Barcelona alllll the way, just sayin' :)
4. Having a stuffy nose and not being able to taste food is not cool. Not cool.
5. I've been looking for a second summer job. I think it might be worth it to just work my tail off this summer in order to live in Paris next summer, and get myself all moved in and prepared for wherever I may live after college.

still alive from hell week

Hey everyone.

I always hate being a negative Nancy, but last week was pure hell. As you know, my laptop died which has meant that i haven't been able to update this sweet little of blog of mine. I've resorted to using the school's computers in order to do any homework or assignments. As if this wasn't enough I  was already super stressed out from having 2 midterms, a big quiz, and then 25 hours of work. To top it off, my car died in the middle of the street on my way home from work on Tuesday. Basically, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.

But I sucked it up and ended my week strong, by going to the lupe fiasco and steve aoki concert on friday. And then heading downtown for a girls night at Budoir on Saturday night. Basically the weekend really helped me release all the pent up frustration and negative energy I had been harboring.

I am still without a laptop, and I have my car since apparently they couldn't find anything wrong with it. My grades on my midterms turned out...okay. So everything isn't so bad. And even though I started off my week sick (boooo) I am happy that my presentation went well today. I would also like to mention that I am only 2 weeks away from finals and my summer starting. I am so stoked!

Most of all I am happy to get a juicy paycheck. I need some new clothes!

I'm going to start coming to the library late at night or early in the morning to write up all my blog posts until I have my own computer again.

RIP HP laptop

I just wanted to inform you all that my computer kicked the bucket yesterday. It can turn on buts it's unable to restore itself. I've seriously had so much trouble with my laptop. In less than three years the battery has burned out, I've went through 2 chargers that didn't work, and some type of motherboard malfunction. Seriously, it's been a college students worse night mare. I think I'm a just go without it until the end of the semester, and do any work at the library. I don't know if it's worth getting it fixed. I was planning on buying myself a new computer after graduation. But maybe I will just buy myself a new one this summer and either save up for it or just put it on my credit card.

On that note, I still plan on keeping up with posting. This week might be a bit slow due to school and work. Have a good week!

happy heart ♥

So I "thrifted" these from my roomie earlier this week. She was cleaning up her room and throwing a bunch of stuff away, and asked if I wanted it. Of course, I'd thought I'd give them a try. I'm not big on perfumes and I just keep it simple with my ed hardy roll-on. My aunt on the other hand is obsessed with perfumes, she has to have at least 30 different scents on her vanity that she has collected over the years. Every time I am over her house I try a few on before the smells start blending together and I start feeling light headed and dizzy. Before I leave she always insists that I take one with me, but I can't take away from her most prided collection. I've now wore the clinique happy heart a few times and I really like it. Its very light but feminine; basically its perfect. I don't want to wear a perfume that makes everyone in the room notice, but I do want a perfume that makes a boy want to kiss me if he catches a whiff.

My weekend has been a pretty boring and bland one. Because I have two midterms this upcoming week, I've been spending a lot of time in the library. I have another long day of studying ahead of me. I just feel like I wasted a nice weekend! This is why I am thinking about changing my post-graduation plans. I don't know if I have the drive to continue working like this. I am not afraid to work hard for something I love, but I simply cannot be stressed out and not have a life every other week for the next four years. I want to have a life and enjoy my youth while I can. But I'll write more on that later, since it deals with my announcement.

Sunday thoughts:
1. I am over school at this point, oh senioritis.
2. I need to start looking at places to live for next year. Our lease is up in about 8 weeks! I think its time to move out of the college area and expand my horizons.
3. I will never understand boys and the male brain

Friday Favorites: 70s inspired platforms

I'm a fan of fashion trends being recycled. Big hair from the 80s, leggings from the 90s, peace symbols from the 60s. I must say the fashion from the 70s has been a blur for me, but I am really liking the pieces that are coming back into style. As I have mentioned many times, I am a shoe addict. So it might have been easy to guess that I would be falling into 70s inspired shoe trends.

Dork Face Attack

Extensions are gone! I had a hair appointment to get them taken out and I've never felt so naked. Its also been quite the reality check having really short hair again. I just couldn't afford to put them back in at this moment (its over $200) so I'm just going to have to wait till next month. I really liked how I looked with long hair.  But until then I'm going to have to embrace my short hair and make it work. However, I did keep my feather extensions :D

Today:
1. My allergies were killing me
2. I bought a bag of animal crackers for $1.00....the bag is now half way gone
3. I have another long night of studying ahead of me, along with another red bull
4. I'm excited about it being 80 degrees tomorrow

Thoughts ♥

Here is a new nail polish I bought a few weeks ago from Forever 21. I was waiting in line and I thought why not pick up a new color for spring, especially since it was less than $3.00. The important thing to remember about cheap nail polish is to not leave it on for too long, because sometimes it will turn your nails yellow. But I really like this color because you can do two coats to make it pretty light and pastel-ish, or lay it on thick (like I did) for a more neon vibe. I think it makes for a great night color too because its kind of electrifying so the color just pops.

There are so many thoughts going through my head right now, but don't worry they are all good. I've made my decisions and now its all about setting up plans. Does that even make any sense? No worries, I'm just trying to be mysterious as I am waiting to share some announcements and decisions with you all.  But there are some other thoughts I am willing to share at this very moment. One: What gift do you buy your friends for college graduation? I just made a list and I have five gifts to buy. Of course I want them to be sentimental in someway. I've been searching and I have 4 weeks left. Once I figure it out, I plan on making a guide to buying college graduation gifts. Two: Summer list. My summer starts in 5 weeks since I will be done with finals then. I always make a summer list of things I would like to do. So far, I have a few ideas on mind like exploring my city and going camping. But I can't wait to share my complete list in a few weeks. Until then I will continue to brainstorm. Three: Next week is going to be hell! I have two huge midterms (for ecology and biochem), 1 quiz in my biochem lab, and then I work 25 hours on top of that. Its going to be one long week. But I plan on ending the week with a night downtown with the girls. Yes! Four: I've been itching for something new although I'm not sure if I'm completely ready for a tattoo. I'm thinking about getting a surface piercing soon. Where? Your just going to have to wait and see ;)

P.S. I am getting my hair done on Thursday! Nothing major, just re-doing my extensions. But its much needed!

My Sunday has been a good end to an already great weekend. I ended up taking a journey downtown today just to get frozen yogurt from pinkberry. There was a padres/dodgers game which meant lots of traffic and people everywhere. I ended up going with a friend that I haven't seen in 3 years! Crazy right? He was in town so we decided to catch up over fro-yo.  We sat and talked and our quick fro-yo get together turned into a 3 hour journey. Good times!

After fro-yo I came home and got dressed, and then I went hiking with my friend Sarah. I am happy to say that I am back into exercise mode. It feels great! I'll probably alternate between running and hiking during the week. We might actually go hiking to this waterfall next weekend so I'm very excited about that, especially since the weather is supposed to be nice.

The rest of my night will be spent studying. But I had an excellent and very social weekend. I love when things work out that way. What was the highlight of your weekend?

Productive Saturday or Bust

 Blazer: Charlotte Russe
Scarf:F21
Black tank-top: Charlotte Russe
Leggings: Target
Riding Boots: OB

How is everyone's weekend so far? Mine has been great. Friday both of my classes were cancelled. I had to go to my first class to turn in a research paper, but then we were free to leave after that. So what did I end up doing with a day of freedom? Absolutely nothing. I pretty much ate, sat around, and watched movies. I should have been reading and playing catch up. What a great student I am! Later that night I went out for dinner and a movie with a friend of mine. It felt good because I haven't done that in so long. Since I have only been 21 for half a year, I'm still a little excited about exercising my freedom to go out and drink. But last night was so laid-back and relaxing, and I had a really good time.

Today cannot be a repeat of yesterday! Since spring break I have been pretty lazy. I haven't really worked out in over 2 weeks! So basically I went from being able to run 4 miles to a complete bum. Today I start back up again. There is only a few weeks til my summer starts and I am determined to have a nice summer body. I also have a few errands to run along with getting a lot of reading done. The weather is pretty gloomy and it rained all of last night, so that should help keep me inside as much as possible to get my reading done.

How is your weekend going so far? What are your plans?

Friday Favorites: Marchesa

You wont find any designer pieces in my wardrobe. I've always shopped on some type of budget, and very rarely do I spend a lot of money on fashion. Hey, I'm a broke college student. There is no way I have the means to afford louis vuitton, chanel, and the likes. Of course when I am older I will help myself to some luxuries, but until then I shop smart and cheap. That doesn't stop me from falling in love with designer fashion and couture. While I look at some pieces, like "wtf? How could somewhere wear that in real life?" there are others that I wish were dangling in my closet.

I applaud Marchesa for making high fashion yet very wearable pieces. Hands down one of my favorite designers!  I really like their very simple use of details (whether it be rouching or ruffles) to create a crisp but high-fashion look. Their wedding gowns are also to die for!  I feel like most of the time high end clothing is too "out-there" (maybes thats why I'll never fit into the world of high-fashion). But because Marchesa pieces are so classic, I feel like they could never go out of style. Maybe one day I can afford a Marchesa dress and pass it down to my daughter and grand daughter. Wouldn't that be a treasure?

Do you have a favorite designer at the moment?

Cabo San Lucas--43 things

 # 17 Travel to a new city/state/country

Yes! I am finally writing an entry about my vacation to Cabo San Lucas last week. Let me just start off by saying that I had a blast! It was seriously one of the best vacations of my life. I have such a great group of friends and I am so glad that the 8 of us can go on a vacation and have a good time with zero drama. I am blessed to have these ladies in my life. As you know, I went on a carnival cruise which stopped in cabo for 2 days. Our time on the ship was so much fun. We laid out on deck and tanned, worked out, went in the pools and hot-tubs, did little activities on the ship, at night we danced at the club until the early morning, and we ate to our hearts content. I seriously gained 5 pounds from this vacation!

Day 1 in cabo was spent going to a bar called billygans and laying on the beach there all day. It was very relaxed, but we still had fun by entering competitions and dancing haha. We ended up going to mango deck later that day but didn't stay too long. It was pretty spring break infested, and I didn't really care to watch the wet t-shirt contest especially since I knew some of the girls who participated. *Barf* Day 2 in cabo our group had split up. Half the group went to lovers beach which is only accessible by a water taxi. The other half of us decided to hangout out downtown and doing a little bar-hopping and shopping. What we didn't know was that we would be a complete shitshow. We didn't realize how early it was but we basically started drinking at 9:30am and were drunk by 12:00. We ended up going to 5 different bars and fell in love with all our waiters. They were so nice and so much fun. We had to leave at 2:15pm  which was good because we were downright wasted.  I guess what most people are concerned about when it comes to Mexico is all the violence that is going on. I did not feel creeped out or in danger at any moment, but I would not go wandering down the street by myself. We always stayed in groups the whole time and we were only there in the daytime. As long as you stay in touristy areas (along the beach) then you have no reason to worry or feel unsafe. I had a great time in Cabo and I encourage everyone to do the same.

Wishlist Wednesday & Paris

In case you haven't noticed, there is a new look here at lovely little besos. I finally decided it was time to make a banner and have all the colors for links match up. I guess I've been so busy that I've never really gotten around to it. I'm happy I finally did, and I'm pleased with the way things look. I will do more tweaking here and there for the remainder of the week.

Yesterday afternoon I went hiking with my friend Sarah. We hadn't seen each other since early March so it was our time to catch up and exchange stories from our spring break. The thing I love about Sarah is how adventurous she is! She is always on the go, taking road trips, traveling, and experiencing the world piece by piece. On a whim I said we should move to Paris together, and what do you know? She loved the idea! Of course it wouldn't be forever and of course nothing soon. But maybe we will do it for  3 months after we both graduate. I'm super excited and I couldn't imagine going with another friend. If we plan it out now I'm sure we can do it. I'm either going to have to save now or get a job when were out there. Man I'm so excited!

There are so many cute things I have been lusting for lately. I realized there is no point in getting a job now due to the fact that I have finals soon and then after that I have a summer job lined up. So pretty soon I will be able obtain some of these pretty items I've had my eyes on. Below are items on my wishlist:

1. This white blazer is to die for! Next blazer purchase on my list.

2. I think flowers in a Can is a super cute idea. I could use these in my room!

3. These hello kitty iphone cases are to die for. I just lost my iphone cover on vacation so I'm hoping to replace it with these super cute covers!
4. I was just watching the sex and the city movie 2 today, and carrie bradshaw rocks the cutest turban upon her arrival or abu dhabi. I don't know if I could pull it off, but I am in love with turbans now.

I hope everyone has a safe and productive hump day!

A day without shoes: Don't get cold feet!

I'm sure you ladies have all heard (and own a pair) of TOMS shoes. Not only are they super cute, fashionable, and very comfortable, but the company was built on a good cause. Every pair of shoes bought, the company donates a pair of shoes to a child in need. In case you didn't know, millions of children around the world grow up without shoes with leaves them at risk for serious disease and infection. Its hard to imagine, as I know I take my shoes for granted, and I am as what you would call a self-proclaimed shoe addict. I have two pairs of TOMS shoes in my collection. And I wear the hell out of my black TOMS because they match with everything and I need to wear closed-toe shoes for my labs.

Well  today, April 5th I will participating in A day without Shoes. I am going a day without shoes not only to see what its like but to most importantly raise awareness. I encourage (or challenge) everyone to participate, as this is for a great cause. I'm sure I'm going to be getting lots of stares as I walk around campus tomorrow, but thats the point! Even if you have requirements where you have to wear shoes I challenge you to go any time period possible or even do an activity without shoes. If you can't participate you should still check out the TOMS website and invest in a pair of shoes as its for a good cause. I picked out some of my favorite styles:

monday--thoughts on my mind

1. I'm sick, for the second time in 2011. Either I partied way too hard, or contracted something in Mexico. Hopefully not the latter. But I knew something was up as I had been off the boat for 3 days and still felt in sort of a funk. And then yesterday my head started hurting. So I've been drinking lots of vitamin water and taking my zicam so hopefully I can just kick this thing before it actually starts.

2. I have another hell week this week. At least its not in the forms of midterms, because there is no way I could get back into my studying mode right out of spring break. This week I have 1 paper due, 1 lab report due, 1 revision due, and a 8 page ecology research paper due. I will be living at my computer this week.

3. Finally sent out e-mails to the grad programs I'm thinking about applying to. At the moment it is seriously a matter of money. I want to come out knowing that I will be making a good salary. If I find out that I could make a salary of $70k+ then I will be satisfied. I also want to know if there are any advancements...I've heard you could be a director or get into teaching medical students and I think that pays up to $100k+. I would love to get into that and that would be a long-term goal of mine maybe after 10-15 years of work. But we will see...a few directors have e-mailed me back so I should have all the information by the end of this week.

4. My ecology professor is so unorganized. I guess it doesn't help that I haven't been to class in a few weeks (but for good reason..I was studying for midterms!) and then he canceled a class. So now I have no idea what topics he is lecturing on, which sucks because I'm already kind of behind. I wanted to come into class today on top of it. Not happenin'!

I have to leave fore school in 45 mins and still need to shower and get dressed, guess I better get on that!

Happy, fat, and tan

I'm officially back in the United States after having an amazing time in Cabo San Lucas. I am so blessed for the opportunity to go and spend time with my amazing friends. I will post a few pictures later this week and write an official entry about the trip. But to sum up my trip--ate lots of food ALL day, drank quite a bit, tanned in beautiful weather, napped in the afternoons, and danced till 2:00am every night.

I cannot believe its April! I can't believe that I will be done with school in about 1.5 months. I can't believe that half of my friends will be graduating and going their separate ways. Its a scary feeling over all. I know its going to be weird finishing my 5th year of college with only half of my friends here. I'm not ready for it, but its slowly starting to happen. Within the next month friends will be walking the stage, throwing graduation parties, and moving back home. Its scary when things change. I've had this comfortable foundation for the past four years and now I'm going to have to re-adjust again. But I know I can't be selfish, because I know once I graduate I will be moving and moving on in the next direction of my life. Its just scary.
I do have my goals this month as I do every month. I feel like April will be a month of setting things into motion. Basically, I have a lot things to figure out, hard work to do, and things to set in place. Its going to do require some thinking and reflection. Here are my main goals:
1. Start eating healthier/cook more
2. Run 5k at least 3x a week
3. Find a place to live next year
4. Do something with my hair (extensions again or hair cut?)
5. Figure out which type of grad program I want to apply to
