Music & March Goals
I love this song, it just makes me feel pumped. I'm definitely adding this to my workout play list. The video is a little too much for me to handle haha, but I think Rihanna looks effin' badass as usual. I seriously love everything about her! Apparently there is a version with Fergie and Alicia Keys on it too. Anyways check it out! Warning: This video can trigger seizures.
My weekend was great. It included a day of drinking with friends, and another day of work and homework. So I was able to have fun and still be productive. I did not workout which was so bad on my part. I have to do the mudrun in 20 days, and I am no where in shape. I basically need to be working out everyday up until the run. I got two weeks to make this happen. I know I can do it, I just wish it was easier to get back into shape.
Tomorrow starts a new month and I am always trying to live each and everyday (and month!) better than my last. I feel like you can always do things to improve yourself and make yourself happy. Here are my goals for March:
1. Do the SD Mudrun
2. Have a crazy time on the cruise and in Mexico
3. Volunteer at least 5x t
4. Shadow at least twice
5. Get a Job

Friday Favorite: pink
Is is really friday evening? This week was a lot longer and harder then I anticipated. I had a lab report that ended up taking more time and effort to complete than I had thought. I was so over working on it, that last night I finally cranked out the last parts of it and got a whopping 15 page lab report on enzymatic reactions. Fun stuff, right? I also spent wednesday night-friday morning camping out for tickets for my school's basketball game. Probably the most spontaneous and craziest thing I've ever done. Damn near caught my death sleeping in the cold, and didn't get much sleep. I did not get more then 8 hours total in the past two nights. Today I ate like I hadn't eaten in days and then I crashed.I feel so much better now! But I think I will end up going to bed soon because I am still so very worn out. Anyways, after waiting in line for 30+ hours we did not get tickets to the basketball game. Our school was so unorganized and did not create ANY type of system of organization. So of course people jumped in line 30 mins before tickets went on sale and got their hands on one of the limited 2,500 tickets. So screwed up! A great deal of the student body was very pissed, and action is being taken to express our anger at the situation.
I am currently infatuated with the idea that spring is around the corner. As a Southern Californian I am not a fan of cold weather, and I love the sunshine and the happiness that comes with spring. One color that always makes me think of spring is Pink. So light, fresh, and innocent. So here is some pink inspiration in light of spring approaching in a few weeks.

music & weekend re-cap
I absolutely love the remix to this song. Adele has such an amazing voice and the beat just makes this song even better. I've been listening to it non-stop. Check out the original too, its just as lovely. I prefer the remix though because I like songs that have a cool beat.
The rest of my weekend ended up being just as lovely. Sunday I ended up sleeping in pretty late, I think I got close to 12 hours of sleep. Crazy, right? But it was so peaceful falling asleep to the rain. I ended up finally getting up, doing laundry, and went for a run. I only ran 2.5 miles total and that wasn't consecutive. I am going to be running everyday from now on so that by the beginning of march I am able to run 2 miles with not much of a problem. Can I just be in shape already? After the run I came home and ended up doing some toning exercises. Needless to say, I am feeling soooooo sore right now. It hurts so good! haha. The rest of my day was filled with yummy food, homework, and a trip to victorias secret. I'm proud to say thats the first time I've been to the mall in over a month. I didn't even buy anything, but I did try on an amazing bathing suit top that I hope to purchase next month.
Monday was a slightly stressful day. I woke up and went to school early to study for my biochem lab quiz. I then had class 12:00-5:00. I came home ate a little and went on do start my 3rd day of running. I did make it further than last time which is amazing. I am dying, my body is sore everywhere! Its so easy going to sleep now because by the end of the night I am physically exhausted. I ended the night with pasta and garlic bread and went to the library to start typing my lab report for biochem.
Today is going to be another day. I have class from 8:00am-12:15. Then I need to fit in grocery shopping, reading for class, running, volunteering, and then finishing this horrible lab report. Have a happy Tuesday!

love is breakfast on a saturday morning
Its only Saturday but I feel like this weekend has been absolutely perfect so far. Friday I went to school since I had two classes. I then came home and got ready because I had a pre-health conference at school. I literally racked the back of my closet for my professional clothes, I feel like they haven't seen the light of day in months. I actually love my business clothes, especially my slacks. They are so comfortable and pretty effin' cute if I do say so myself. I stayed for one workshop at the conference before I decided to bail. I came home to one of my roommates making dinner. We ended up having an amazing roomie bonding night which was very much needed. We all have different schedules and its hard for us to all sit together and catch up. But last night we actually sat down and had dinner together, had a few glasses of wine, gossiped, watched wedding shows, and played lots of words with friends. It was great!
This morning I woke up to a cloudy sky but I decided to run anyways. I ran a mile but on my way back home it started pouring. So I had to wrap my iphone tightly in my sweatshirt. But honestly... I really enjoy running in the rain...... its kind of peaceful. Plus I need to get ready for the icky, sticky, and gross mud run! After wards the roomies decided to get breakfast together, which we never do, so it was another great bonding time. I ended up getting french toast (my fave!) smothered with strawberries. So yum! I also got this huuuuugge hot chocolate which is pictured above. Unfortunately by the time we got done with breakfast I missed my ballet class. So I ended up coming home and slowly got ready for the conference. I came back to school and met with a few representatives which was cool and informative. I also snagged some leftover sandwiches since I had missed lunch. Overall, it was good and I'm glad I went.
So I feel like its been a pretty active weekend which I guess explains why I'm tired. But now I'm just going to stay in and get some homework done. Then maybe I'll kick back and watch some gossip girl on dvd. How is your weekend going so far?

Friday Favorite: Lace
Its another rainy day here in San Diego. I am officially trying to get back in shape as I have to do the mudrun in a little over a month. I have to be able to run 5k and be strong enough to climb walls and run through obstacle courses. I'm excited! Running a 5k race is one of my goals for the new year and I will be more than happy being able to check it off my list. If you want to see more of my goals for 2011 check out my '43 things' page which you can access by clicking the link at the top of my blog. Unfortunately, being sick has definitely taken a toll of me and I lost about 2 weeks worth of training. But now I am going to make it my priority to work out everyday up until the run. I wanted to run today but now its raining and I don't have enough time left. I'm going to do a quick workout through on demand, which is probably best so I can slowly get back into things.
I have always had a thing for lace. I love that it makes me feel so much like a women; I feel sexy and I feel strong. And I truly love that lace pieces are easy to transform from day to night looks. Whether looking for innocent & girly or sexy & mysterious, lace is always the way to go. Here are some of my favorite lace looks:

rain rain please stay
(Top-Jessica Simpson, Cardigan-Old Navy, Jeggings-Kohls, Riding Boots-A little boutique in Ocean Beach)
I am completely exhausted right now. Although I got the two hardest things out of my way, there is still so much to be done. I have a paper and a presentation due tomorrow, Friday and Saturday I will be attending a conference, and Sunday I have to work. I basically don't think I will be going out this weekend, which is completely fine. Not only am I kind of getting over my whole being 21 partying phase, but I'm sure I'll be exhausted and I need to worry about doing homework. This week is truly too much!
Today has been a laid back, I just want to cuddle type of day. Its been pouring, and all I want to do is lay in my warm bed and just sleep and cuddle. Except since I lack a boyfriend, the cuddling thing is kind of impossible. Hah. But this is perfect library weather. I really hate when its a beautiful, warm, sunny day outside and you really feel like your missing out being stuck inside studying. So tonight will be perfect library time!
And so I leave you all with somethings i'm wishing for on this wednesday:
1. This wig by mintymix is absolutely beautiful. I don't know if I could ever pull it off, but I think its freakin' amazing and the perfect color combo.
2. A cherry blossom tattoo. I've been thinking of getting a tattoo for a while now, but being indecisive (and broke) makes it kind of hard to get one. But I'm starting to think a cherry blossom tattoo is the way to go for everything it symbolizes and my japanese heritage.
3. These shoes. Gladiator+studs+skulls=love. I actually have a black pair of gladiator sandals very similar to these and I refuse to throw them away because I'm so in love with them. If anyone knows where I could get these that would be amazing.
4. Sushi!!! This platter looks absolutely mouth-watering. In case you didn't know I love love sushi! Being a broke college student means that I don't get to eat it as often as I please. But pretty soon I'm going to have to do a sushi buffet, preferably sooner then later.

Happy Day of Love
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I hope you all are enjoying your day and feeling the love from partners, family, and friends. If you are single and not enjoying it, be sure to check out my guide in the previous post. I have spent the majority of my day running around like a chicken with its head cut off. I stayed up till the wee hours last night studying for an ecology midterm. I ended up making little heart valentines for my roomies (pictured above) while studying. I find I study better when I'm doing other things, usually snacking on something or doing something with my hands. Today I woke up early and went to school to do some last minute studying. I took my ecology exam then had a my biochem lab, but its back to the library for the remainder of the evening to study for my biochem midterm. I promise I'll shut up about my hell week, but until then its consuming my life. I'll keep this short & sweet, so enjoy the rest of your love day :)

A Single's Guide to Valentines Day
Its not surprising that Valentines Day has been deemed singles awareness day. In between the shades of red and pink, the chocolates and the sweets, the teddy bears and the cards, the romanticism and the down right mushiness, valentines day can really make a single girl feel out the loop. On this day many single girls can unite over the major slump they feel. But why so? Do we need a fancy romantic date in order for Valentine's Day to be considered a success? Most definitely not! Here are some tips for a highly successful valentines day for beautiful, young, single women.
1. Celebrate you
The most important relationship in life is the one with yourself. You will have this body, mind, and soul for the rest of your live so you better learn to love and appreciate yourself. Use valentines day as a way to express and show self-love. Pamper yourself with a day of manicures/pedicures, messages, spa date, or whatever makes you happy. Do something for your self to show yourself how much you care. Sometimes it is important to put yourself first. Another tip is to write a letter to yourself. Write down all the things you love about yourself, and things about you that will never change about you whether you be in a relationship or single. Take valentines day as a day to strengthen self-love and appreciation!
2. Celebrate strong women
Where would we be if it weren't for the help of strong women? Whether it be a mom, a grandma, or girlfriends--let those women know how much they mean to you. There can be stronger love between two women then between a women and a man. Call up a friend you haven't seen in a while to tell them how much you love and appreciate them. Take out an aunt to lunch in appreciation of the love and guidance she has showed you. There are still ways to show love on valentine's outside of a relationship with a man and without being romantic.
3. Surround yourself
One of the most depressing things for a single girl on valentine's day is being alone.....so don't be! Surround yourself by friends in a similar situation. Invite them over for a chill move & popcorn night. Have a dinner night where you guys all pitch in to learn a new recipe. Through a little party and sip on fruity cocktails. You can still have fun and be single on valentines day. As far as I know there is no rule in the book saying that you must be stuck alone in your apartment binging on chocolate....which is actually just plain wrong.
4. Learn something New
I am all about learning new things and going on adventures. Why don't you take the night off to learn something new--a craft, a make-up look, a re-style, etc. By learning something new you'll be feeling like valentines day was no waste at all!

Friday Favorite: Nudes
This trend has slowly been growing on me and now I am absolutely in love with nudes! I honestly wish I had money to splurge on a few nude pieces right now. I am usually the type of girl who sticks to BLACK everything. If you look in my closet you will see that 80% of my clothing is black/grey/navy. I think I am seriously afraid of adding colors to my wardrobe. I really like the fact that nudes can brighten up a outfit, without pushing you into shock from steering away from typical black pieces. Here are some of my favorite nude peices!
Have a blessed weekend!

Today was another gorgeous California day. I just can't get over the fact that It was in the mid 70's in the middle of February while most of the country is being hit with cold weather and snow storms. I am so blessed to live in a beautiful city like San Diego. Sometimes I take it for granted, but being able to go to the beach, hiking on various trails, and have the sun constantly beating down on my skin always makes me feel thankful for being able to live another day in this beautiful city. As you can see my style is pretty So-Cal casual, which is usually my style for school. I go to a pretty large school with lots of walking, and since I'm usually busy and in science labs there is no point of me getting fancy. My school outfits and evening/weekend outfits are pretty different. I'll be sure to post more of my 'going out' outfits soon.
I am finally starting to feel better which is good as I have a long weekend of studying ahead of me. How exciting, right? I just can't wait for next week to be over and done with. In between 2 midterms and a paper, I also have various other meetings and activities going on outside of class. Time to take care of business! But after next week I can a major breather until mid-march when I have to do it all over again. Since when did midterms feel like finals week? I kind of got screwed over this semester. The rest of my week has been good, so I leave you with some photos I've taken with my week. Enjoy!
I finally got around to painting my nails this week. The colors are sally hansen maximum growth in tangerine joy, and sally hansen xtreme wear in strobe light. I just realized the pink shades go with valentines day. That was unintentional, but pretty cool I must admit.
This bag contains dozens of glasses that I'm donating to the lions club of san diego.Every year our organization collects glasses to donate to the clinic, in which they give to people who need their vision corrected. It feels amazing being able to make such a big difference!
Finally got my package in the mail after a delay due to weather conditions. Pictured is the Betsey Johnson Bump N Up Bra, and diamond studs. The bra is so pretty and makes me feel so sexy wearing it. And the earrings are perfect! I lost my favorite pair of studs on new years so I am elated to finally be replacing them.

Wishlist Wenesday
So I believe I am actually starting to get a little better. I just hate being in class and a complete mess, its not cute. But hey I can actually breathe through my nostrils today, so progress is being made. I just hope I am all good to go by this weekend. Not that I have a lot to look forward to, but I do need to start running again and I do have lots of studying in store. Next week is going to be my "hell week". I leave you guys with somethings I am wishing for right now.
4. Waterfall Duvet Cover. I want this is my next bedroom. I would re-decorate mine but I haven't even been living here for a year yet. I don't have enough money for it now. But I kind of just want to buy it this summer and save it for when I move for school in another year.
Whats on your wishlist this week?
1. Maggie Sottero Venecia Dress. This dress perfectly sums up my style. Simple, edgy, but classy. I don't plan on getting married anytime soon, but I want this dress!
2. Fuji instax 210. I really want one of these babies so I can start capturing moments before all my friends graduate and move.
3. Sam Edelmen Zoe Boot. I've been eyeing these for a while, and I would love to own a pair but I just don't think that will ever happen. Thats why this is wishlist wednesday right?4. a spoonful of sugar
So things have not really gotten better for me. I've been heavily congested for the past 5 days, and its not cute or fun. I've been drinking lots of tea (with lots of honey yummm) to help, and I think I've seriously become addicted. I think I should just become British, I already got the accent down ;) I've also been taking nasal decongestant which has not been helping what so ever. Basically, sinus infection + monthly visitor + being stressed out because of midterms next week= a psycho version of me. No, things could actually be a lot worse. But I do hope to get better soon so that I can get back into everything. I haven't exercised in a week for the fact that I basically can't breathe. I called an advise nurse today and I'm waiting for her to get back to me. I'll probably end up trying one of those nasal sprays, and if that doesn't work then i'm going to see a doctor.
I did (and still do) have some special posts for you guys. But they are just going to have to be put on hold until I get a little better and get a little extra time in my schedule. I will definitely still do them, they are just going to be pushed back a little.
Have a safe and happy day :)

sinitus
So I thought I had a cold, but apparently I have a yucky sinus infection. I tend to get them time to time, so they that aren't that big of a deal but boy do they suck. I feel like I haven't been able to breath properly for the past few days, and today I feel like I'm getting the worst of it. Lots of pressure in my head and on parts on my face. I just want to be able to taste my food again!! haha. I guess I'm going to have to run and get sinus medicine in a little bit.
In the meantime I just wanted to let you guys know that I finally made a button for lovely little besos. So if you ever wish to link me, you can do so with a pretty little image. And please let me know if you do, I will gladly exchange the love and link back. I also wanted to let you guys know about the a cool give away over at little chief honey bee for an oktomat camera. I love the fact that her giveaway items are basically inspiring people to have adventures and document life. Cool huh?

Whats in my bag
So I decided to hop on the bandwagon and dedicate a post to whats in my bag. Let me first say that I switch between bags a lot within the day. For school I carry my backpack, when running errands I carry a big purse, when going out I carry a mini messenger bag, and when I go somewhere fancy I carry my clutch. Can you keep up with all that? So I decided to pick one bag and show you guys the main items that I tend to carry with me all the time. I actually don't carry a lot, my bags are just usually full of change and old receipts.
In my bag you will find:
1. my wallet (got it as a birthday gift from friends)
2. chapstick
3. keys (which is my life, i have a lot of keys!)
4. tissue (especially now since im sick)
5. rings
6. shea hand butter (i hate the feeling of dry hands)
7. colgate wisps
8. cannon camera
9. iphone (not pictured)
what do you carry in your bag?

Friday Favorite: Studs
Studs used to give me the mental images of punk-rockers and bikers---spiked collars and leather jackets. In the past studs have not been my go to fashion staple, but I must say that I have fallen in love with the comeback of them! I think studs are a fun and simple way to add a little bit of edge to any outfit. And I love that you can add studs to anything girly and still get a classic look, with a twist of rebel. Now, I need to find some studded goodies and maybe DIY a few things in my wardrobe. Here are some pieces I love.

about this girl ♥
My name is Bre. I am currently a 21 year old college student residing in Southern California. I would label myself a little bit of a wild child, but still very mother like in nature. I'm not one to take a lot or risks, but I do enjoying having a good time and experiencing new things. Basically I am one big complicated contradiction.
Most of my time is spent doing homework and studying. I am a biology major, preparing to apply for med school this summer. But that does not mean I'm a complete square and that I am wrapped up in books all day. In fact I'm very much a people person and enjoy interacting and meeting new people. I have a large but amazing group of friends that I adore. My weekends are usually spent hitting up the town with them. I'm a very positive and optimistic person. I am always looking for ways to better myself. I am a single girl who enjoys catering to and loving herself.
Overall I enjoy taking pictures, mini and sporadic road-trips, sunsets, traveling, laughing till I cry, chocolate milkshakes (or chocolate anything for that matter), dresses, surprises, and cute shoes.
My life in 2011 currently consists of school/studying, volunteering with kids, going out with friends, hiking/running, trying to eat healthy, taking ballet classes, and trying to save money.
I hope to document my life and adventures through lovely little besos and I hope you all stick around to be apart of it

Wednesday Hump Day
I woke up this morning expecting this day to come crashing and burning down on me. Why you might ask? Well it started off with me not getting anything done yesterday. So i came into today thinking "Oh man do I have so much to do today." Also towards the end of last night I started feeling like I was coming down with something. I did wake up this morning feeling pretty crappy. And I knew I had a long day ahead with a really challenging biochem lab. So I did everything I could to prep myself and feel better. I took zicam, drank tea, drank other liquids, ate a big lunch. Thank god my first class isn't till 12:00 so I had time to do all this. Anyways, I ended up feeling a lot better (but still not 100%) and our lab material got cut down. So basically my day turned out a lot better than I anticipated. And I'm heading to the library in an hour or so to get my homework taken care of! See, it all works out in the end :)
On that note I leave you with beautiful things I am currently lusting for on this wishlist wednesday:
