Sundayyy

This weekend was filled with productivity and fun. I feel like its way too much to write about, but I can sum it up; Basketball game, going out with the friends, falling asleep to the goonies, ballet, meetings, studying. Whew! And I am now going to spend the remainder of my sunday locked in my room studying. How exciting, right?

I do have exciting news though. So I decided to sell my books to amazon through their trade-in option. These books have been sitting in my room collecting dust because the bookstore at my school refuses to buy them back from me. I ended up shipping amazon 5 textbooks and ended up making $130 in amazon credit. Suhhhweet! I'm obviously going to treat myself to something nice and I think I'm going to buy my mom and dad a joint gift of somehow. But there are some things I have been lusting over by betsey johnson...

You just gotta ignite the light

I shouldn't be updating right now, but I don't know when is the next time I will be able to as I have so very much on my plate at this moment. Second week of school, and already feeling the pressure :/ I NEED to get everything in order, but other than that I'm still feeling very very happy. Here are some happenings/ideas/things from the last few days:

1. Started volunteering at the local library tutoring little kids and helping them with their homework. Its only once a week so its very manageable, and I actually have a lot of fun doing it. I hope to keep it up through the summer :)
2. Running and hiking are making me feel so good. But I need to start running more to get ready for the mudrun. I want to be able to run 2.5 miles by the end of February. I think I can do it :)
3. Big Basketball game tonight for our school. I think I might go to the local bar to watch it.
4. I NEED to start saving money. I need to get a passport and I have a $700 course to pay for this summer. So less going out, and less money spending when going out.
5. I also need to learn how to manage my time better. REALLY!

weekend

Last night I decided to be a good kid and stay in. I ended up having a great time with the roomies as we watched chick flicks. Tonight will be spent out doing a bar crawl for a friends birthday. I really feel like 2011 is bringing me so much change and progress. January hasn't even ended but I've completed a lot of my goals or have been sticking to them. I just feel more wise & more productive, and most importantly so very happy :)

Today, I took my first ballet class! It was great. Sure, I was lost most of the time and screwed up some of the steps. But my teacher was so nice, helpful, and encouraging. And most of all I had a lot of fun. It was only $9.00 for the class and I definitely look forward to going back next weekend and hopefully the rest of my time down here.

I'm going to eat and then dive into the books until its time to go out. Have  a great weekend!

New Hair

So one of my resolutions this year was to have amazing hair. Some of you ladies are blessed to have hair you can work with. Mine is constantly a problem, hard to manage, never grows, breaks off easily, etc! So I did something drastic last night......I got extensions! I like them a lot although its seriously taking some getting used to. They are sewn into hair that is braided onto my scalp. So basically having braids underneath feels like I'm sleeping on something all night. Hah! And straightening out the excess hair this morning took a little longer than expected. But I'm sure its all a matter of getting used to, and they should last me 3 months. So hard to imagine that I will keep these babies in till the end of April---basically the whole semester right there. Oh and I also got 'feather extensions' which is the new trendy thing in so cal right now :)

School has been decent so far. Looks like its going to be another tough semester! Thank the lord I am not working this semester. It would be pretty unbearable. I still have books to buy and lots of errands to complete this weekend. But I'll dedicate a post soon to the first week of school. Have a great weekend!

I just want to daaannnccee

Lately my life has been filled with lots of dancing and good times with friends. I honestly love my friends so much, and appreciate that they are just as crazy as I am. I never fail to have a good time with them :) I am in love with this david guetta ft. rhianna song. Makes me want to dance even more!

Last day to get my errands under control as school starts tomorrow. Eeek! Winter break where did you go? You were so so good to me this year and I had a blast. I'll never forget it! Today I have some things to take care of and then maybe I can squeeze in some shopping. I keep wearing the same shirts over again. I think I need some new tops. Just maybe haha.

January You've been good to me!

January is really proving to be a fresh start to the new year. I am really feeling so happy with life and am enjoying having good times with friends and going on adventures.  I've also been doing pretty good in regards of staying on top of my new year goals. Its been great, and I want it to last.... But school starts next week, and it will be time to get back into the swing of things. I'm hoping to slow down on the partying a bit, get into some new hobbies, and go on more adventures. Yea?

So Tuesday I registered for classes and ended up getting a pretty sick schedule, wayyyy better than last semester. I won't be running around like a chicken with its head cut off & I actually get to sleep in on monday, wednesday, and friday. I quit my job and now this semester is fully dedicated to school, school, and school. On Tuesday night I went out with a group of friends and we seriously had a blast. We got cheap $2.00 tacos and $4.00 margaritas, we danced on the dance floor when no one else was. I seriously love my friends, and even though I wasn't drunk (I was the designated driver) I had a great time :) Wednesday night was spent at the school's basketball game with a sold out crowd and the best record in the nation. I love our basketball games, so much energy and such a great vibe. Yesterday me and my roomie went on an adventure and went hiking. With it being 70 degrees and sunny in southern california there was no way we could not go outside and soak up the sunshine. I also treated myself to sushi (yummmmm) and did a little shopping. Victorias secret had a major sell, I got a bra for $12.99 and some PJ pants for $9.99...SCORE! AND I finally updated my make-up. I've been using this worn out little eyeliner pencil and now there is almost nothing left. So I got new eyeliner, lipstick, and eyeshadow. I did my make-up for the basketball game on Wednesday and it turned out so well! I was pretty excited. So now I'm excited to try it with more colors and what not. Anyways, I leave you with photos from our hiking adventure :)

Now its time to get the weekend started! My plans are to go downtown for a friends birthday, hangout with a good friend that I haven't seen in a few months, work on scholarship essays, workout lots, prepare for my mock interview, and get excited about getting extensions! Have a safe weekend!

The state of Texas & New Orleans

I am finally back in California from a wonderful vacation. I've actually been back since yesterday but I had to go grocery shopping, workout, and was dead tired by then. How to sum up my vacation? Lots of unexpected fun! I really am blessed to have such great family who really took care of me and showed me such a great time on my trip.

1st leg of the trip--
The first part of the trip was made up of driving all day through the state of Texas--Dallas-Austin-San Antonio-Houston. Our main goal was to see an optometry school in San Antonio that I am interested in. So we woke up that morning and to San Antonio we went. I really like RSO, especially since the facilities and clinic are new. They do have a small class size which means more access to professors. Overall, I got a good vibe and will be applying there this year. Then we continued to drive to galveston where we stayed for the night. My brother had a little timeshare on the beach so it was nice but..... a little creepy. There are just miles of miles of beaches houses, it was super dark, and there weren't that many people out there. But seeing everything in the daylight made it so much better.

2nd leg of the trip--
We left the timeshare and our next destination was NEW ORLEANS! I was very excited about this since the last time I had been was when I was 12, and now I'm 21 and I can officially appreciate all of the city's goodness.  We stayed at a cute hotel in the french quarter only two blocks away from bourbon street. We immediately went out and got food since we had been eating nothing but junk food on the road the past 2 days. I ordered a mufaletta for the first time which was very yummy. We also started drinking and preparing for a fun night. The rest of the night including gambling a little (i won nothing :x) and drinking and bar hopping. We found this one club which was great and became good friends with this older couple. We all danced together for a while and had a great time. We kept going in and out to other bars along the street and dancing and drinking. It was a lot of fun! I am really trying to make plans to go back for springbreak.

3rd left of the trip--
We made our way back to Dallas after a 9 hour drive! I ended up having to drive a stick (for my first time) throughout the state of Louisiana haha. Oh boy what an experience. We ended up getting home super late and crashing. But the next day my aunt picked me up and we went out to lunch with our cousin. I ended up ordering shrimp etoufee since i didn't get a chance to order it in Nawlins. It was so good :) After that we did a little shopping and got movies to watch from blockbuster. My aunt has a mini movie theater in her house which is so legit. I don't know how common it is in Texas, but no houses have that in California unless your rich or a celebrity. So we watched two movies and went to sleep.

The next day we woke up and watched football all day. It also started snowing which got me really excited! I haven't seen it snow it a while since I've been living in southern california these past few years and I don't go snowboarding or anything like that. It started snowing more than they expected but it was a cool ending to my little trip. Luckily and stopped snowing the next day so that I was able to fly back home to sunny california.

Overall it was one of the best trips of my life and I had a blast!

wishlist wednesday

So today I tried to get a lot done and although some things are in progress its a bummer that I feel like I didn't really get anything completed. No check marks on my list! But its okay I'm going to wake up tomorrow and try to get at least some those things officially completed before I leave. On the bright side I am happy with my amazing discovery. Tonight me and my roommate tried out exercisetv on demand, and I loved it! Lately, the weather has been controlling my exercise schedule and me not being a member of a gym has made it hard to stay in shape. But now I can exercise in the comforts of my own home. There is even a quick 10 min cardio workout for the days where I feel like I don't have enough time to exercise. There was also 50 different workouts to choose from so I know I will never get tired of doing the same thing. I'm very happy with this discovery :)

I stopped by forever 21 for a bit today & was a very good girl. I just picked up 2 rings and a set of super cute socks.  I also went by target and got travel sized stuff for my trip. I'm basically all packed up and ready to go. I talked to my brother on the phone today and there sounds like there are tons of fun things in store this  week. I will be honest and say that I might not update until next week (I'll be major roadtripping and having fun) but there will be lots of pictures and updates once I get back.  Here are some things I am lusting for this wednesday:

   1. rad rings--can you tell im obsessed?

2. pure gold nails

3. Dont these candles look yummy?

4. A DVD player--so i can get comfortable in bed and watch a movie before I fall asleep

Lastly, there is a fun giveaway over at little chief honeybee for a mini diana camera. Its definitely another item on my wishlist. How cool would it be to start off 2011 with one of those babies?

Happy New Year--2011!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy new year! This was my first time celebrating the new year without my family and outside of the bay area. Me and a group of friends got bottle service at a local lounge/club here in San Diego. We had a blast and everyone got pretty drunk to say the least. The end of the night was a little bit interesting, but we all made it home safely. Below is a picture of what I wore, I love love love that dress. It really fits my body type. I can't wait to wear it again!

So I am very much looking forward to everything that is in store for 2011. New people, experiences, and lots of love & laughter. I am determined to make this year great in every aspect and I know I can can accomplish that. Here are a few of my resolutions for 2011:

1. get good grades spring semester
2. get on good terms with a professor
3. try ballet
4. get accepted into optometry school
5. focus on school and not working
6. win a scholarship
7. spend less money & save more
8. only go out once a weekend
9. spend thursday nights in the library
10. explore a new city
11. exercise 3 times a week
12. take fish oil daily
13. volunteer once a week
14.  read the bible
15. fall in love

I have many other goals and plans for 2011 but the list gets far too long. However I am using '43 things' as a method to mark my progress throughout the year. The great thing is that they have an app for iphones (& other phones im sure) to help you stay on track. You can mark what percentage you've completed for each goal, write entries about your progress, and check them off once you're done. Pretty neat, right?

I feel like this winter break is zipping right by despite me not "having" to do anything. I mean I've only worked 2 days out of these past two weeks yet the days are just slipping away. I guess errands do take up a lot of time, and I have a lot to do still before school starts on the 19th.  I am excited about leaving for Texas on Tuesday though which is why I have to cram a lot of errands in today & tomorrow.  Time to get this day started!
