# 17 Travel to a new city/state/country
Yes! I am finally writing an entry about my vacation to Cabo San Lucas last week. Let me just start off by saying that I had a blast! It was seriously one of the best vacations of my life. I have such a great group of friends and I am so glad that the 8 of us can go on a vacation and have a good time with zero drama. I am blessed to have these ladies in my life. As you know, I went on a carnival cruise which stopped in cabo for 2 days. Our time on the ship was so much fun. We laid out on deck and tanned, worked out, went in the pools and hot-tubs, did little activities on the ship, at night we danced at the club until the early morning, and we ate to our hearts content. I seriously gained 5 pounds from this vacation!
Day 1 in cabo was spent going to a bar called billygans and laying on the beach there all day. It was very relaxed, but we still had fun by entering competitions and dancing haha. We ended up going to mango deck later that day but didn't stay too long. It was pretty spring break infested, and I didn't really care to watch the wet t-shirt contest especially since I knew some of the girls who participated. *Barf* Day 2 in cabo our group had split up. Half the group went to lovers beach which is only accessible by a water taxi. The other half of us decided to hangout out downtown and doing a little bar-hopping and shopping. What we didn't know was that we would be a complete shitshow. We didn't realize how early it was but we basically started drinking at 9:30am and were drunk by 12:00. We ended up going to 5 different bars and fell in love with all our waiters. They were so nice and so much fun. We had to leave at 2:15pm which was good because we were downright wasted. I guess what most people are concerned about when it comes to Mexico is all the violence that is going on. I did not feel creeped out or in danger at any moment, but I would not go wandering down the street by myself. We always stayed in groups the whole time and we were only there in the daytime. As long as you stay in touristy areas (along the beach) then you have no reason to worry or feel unsafe. I had a great time in Cabo and I encourage everyone to do the same.

wishlist wednesday--etsy edition
I am finally all done with my midterms and it feels amazing. I seriously came home yesterday and stuffed my face and then just crashed for a few hours. Since I finally had sleep and energy I was able to go running. I am sad to say that I am no longer participating in the mud run this weekend. It just happens to fall at a bad time since spring break is the following week and I need to be saving up all my extra cash for that. The thing is, there are plenty of other 5ks, 10ks, and half marathons that I can participate in. I am so proud for pushing myself hard for two weeks so that I could get in shape. One of my goals was to work out 2x a week, and I've been working out more than that. At the beginning I could barely run 1.25 miles without dying, whereas today I ran over 2.5 miles! Its feels good, and I plan on training for some other races in the near future.
I can't believe its only Wednesday, but I'm happy the remainder of my week is going to be pretty laid back and fun-filled. I decided to make my wishlist wednesday composed of things that I've been lusting after on etsy. I am all for etsy and especially handmade and crafted things by unique people, and I could search hours and hours and come across all sorts of cool stuff. I especially love the fact that people are selling items right now to help with relief for the earthquakes/tsunamis in Japan. I think its important that we help the people of Japan after so much destruction has been done. Here are some things I am wishing for from etsy

I think I would wear them in only one ear like Dev does in here Bass Down Low Video. I'd also probably wear them against a basic skin-tight dress, and let the accessory define my outfit.
2. Flora Headband
I absolutely love the headbands and accessories over at Sunshine and Carousels. The pastels and florals make me so excited for spring!
3. Tattoo Sock
How cool are these? They are basically transparent tights with designs on them that look like tattoos. Yes, I'm a wuss and will hopefully have my first tattoo by the end of 2011, but these will be a great investment until then.
Haha, wouldn't it be cool to have people think that your using a real camera, when its really your iphone?
I loooove ruffles. I think this clutch is perfect for spring and summer. I would use it when wearing a floral or all white dress. I could totally get my "hamptons-socialite" on with this clutch.

i will never walk away again, im never going to leave this bed
Hey friends! I've been so incredibly busy lately, but nonetheless amazing! This past weekend was so much fun and included dinner downtown twice, checking out a new lounge, celebrating birthdays, running, going to the beach, and of course homework. All I can say is that I am so happy and loving everything about life right now. I also like the fact that its been sunny and warm, oh spring hurry and get here :) Here are some amazing things going on in my life right now:
1. Running 2.25 miles non-stop today! I couldn't believe it. Maybe taking a day off was necessary. Felt I could have ran longer but I was running late for something else and had to turn around. So happy that I'm closer to my goal then ever before. Ran over 3.5 miles total today!
2. Got a B+ on my first english paper of the semester. Debating if I should re-do it to get a better grade or wait to do the re-do on one my other 3 papers left this semester....
3. Volunteered today (& last Tuesday) helping kids with their homework. Tomorrow morning I'm waking up bright and early to volunteer with some Optometrists to do a vision screening for homeless children :]
4. Got my passport earlier this week (It took less then 3 weeks, w/o getting it expedited!). I'm starting to get so very excited for my cruise and Mexico. But first I need to put in hard work these next two weeks.
5. Interview this Thursday for a job! *crossing fingers*
What things are making you feel happy or accomplished this week?

TGIF & Book Review
Good morning everyone! I love being able to wake up and take my time with my day even if I have a lot on my plate. I can get chores done, clean-up a little, and make myself a nice meal, before I really need to start my day. Now, I am realizing how much I need to do this weekend. I was going into this weekend thinking I just had to do a little catch up on some reading. More things got added on the list, but no prob, they will get done!
So one of my goals for my 43 things was to read 5 books this year. Thats a lot for me considering I am always busy just trying to stay on top of my reading for my classes. But I do love a good book, it puts me in such a relaxing mood and allows me to get lost in a different world. So in January I headed over to barnes & noble to purchase my first book. Of course I felt so overwhelmed and wanted to read almost every single book the on the shelf. Usually I go for classic books because I feel like I should read them if they have some type of historical significance. I sat down and read the beginnings of many books, flipped through the pages of others, and had a hard time coming to a decision. If I had it my way I would buy all the books there and start my own personal library. Some how I came across one book that I knew I couldn't just leave on the shelf, and I walked out the store with my purchase in hand.
Little Bee is a story about two women from completely different worlds (countries) and how they help each other with the issues (death, cheating, obtaining freedom) in their lives. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you will appreciate your life and freedom. You will go from a sunny beach on the coast of Nigeria to the bustling and busy city of London. The book left my crying on the last few pages as I assumed the fate of one of the characters. I don't want to give it all away, but I want to say that I highly recommend it. Its great story or establishing relationships and appreciating what we do have in life. I'm happy to have 1 book crossed off my list!

Its compromise that moves us along
I decided not to do a wishlist wednesday today. Although there are many lovely things I would love to have, this week I am feeling particularly content with what I have. I love this feeling! I kind of went into slump mode last month because I got sick and then ended up getting overwhelmed. But this month I am ready for good things. I slightly re-vamped my goals list that I posted earlier this week. So here goes the new one:
1. Volunteer at least 4x this month
2. Go to ballet classes at least 3x this month
3. Kick ass on my two midterms and two papers
4. Be able to run 5k and have an amazing time at the Mud run
5. Get a part-time job
I'm already starting off right. I went running today and I also volunteered. I always feel so amazing volunteering, and its one of my favorite things to do. In the beginning I always feel kind of whatever about it but by the time I leave I really feel like truly making the difference in someone's life. For example, I met a mother today that introduced herself on a first name basis and said thanks for helping her son with his essay. Amazing :) Running has gotten the best of me though. Can I be in shape already? My goal is to be able to run 3k by Saturday. Right now I can run past 2k, but not quite 3k yet. I know I can do it! I thought of some more things I would like to accomplish this year so I am planning on updating my 43 things page and adding some more wonderful goals to my list.
Oh and I got an interview for next week. Please keep your fingers crossed for me ;)
What are your goals for march? Hows the progress on your new years resolutions?

love is breakfast on a saturday morning
Its only Saturday but I feel like this weekend has been absolutely perfect so far. Friday I went to school since I had two classes. I then came home and got ready because I had a pre-health conference at school. I literally racked the back of my closet for my professional clothes, I feel like they haven't seen the light of day in months. I actually love my business clothes, especially my slacks. They are so comfortable and pretty effin' cute if I do say so myself. I stayed for one workshop at the conference before I decided to bail. I came home to one of my roommates making dinner. We ended up having an amazing roomie bonding night which was very much needed. We all have different schedules and its hard for us to all sit together and catch up. But last night we actually sat down and had dinner together, had a few glasses of wine, gossiped, watched wedding shows, and played lots of words with friends. It was great!
This morning I woke up to a cloudy sky but I decided to run anyways. I ran a mile but on my way back home it started pouring. So I had to wrap my iphone tightly in my sweatshirt. But honestly... I really enjoy running in the rain...... its kind of peaceful. Plus I need to get ready for the icky, sticky, and gross mud run! After wards the roomies decided to get breakfast together, which we never do, so it was another great bonding time. I ended up getting french toast (my fave!) smothered with strawberries. So yum! I also got this huuuuugge hot chocolate which is pictured above. Unfortunately by the time we got done with breakfast I missed my ballet class. So I ended up coming home and slowly got ready for the conference. I came back to school and met with a few representatives which was cool and informative. I also snagged some leftover sandwiches since I had missed lunch. Overall, it was good and I'm glad I went.
So I feel like its been a pretty active weekend which I guess explains why I'm tired. But now I'm just going to stay in and get some homework done. Then maybe I'll kick back and watch some gossip girl on dvd. How is your weekend going so far?

Friday Favorite: Lace
Its another rainy day here in San Diego. I am officially trying to get back in shape as I have to do the mudrun in a little over a month. I have to be able to run 5k and be strong enough to climb walls and run through obstacle courses. I'm excited! Running a 5k race is one of my goals for the new year and I will be more than happy being able to check it off my list. If you want to see more of my goals for 2011 check out my '43 things' page which you can access by clicking the link at the top of my blog. Unfortunately, being sick has definitely taken a toll of me and I lost about 2 weeks worth of training. But now I am going to make it my priority to work out everyday up until the run. I wanted to run today but now its raining and I don't have enough time left. I'm going to do a quick workout through on demand, which is probably best so I can slowly get back into things.
I have always had a thing for lace. I love that it makes me feel so much like a women; I feel sexy and I feel strong. And I truly love that lace pieces are easy to transform from day to night looks. Whether looking for innocent & girly or sexy & mysterious, lace is always the way to go. Here are some of my favorite lace looks:

New Hair
So one of my resolutions this year was to have amazing hair. Some of you ladies are blessed to have hair you can work with. Mine is constantly a problem, hard to manage, never grows, breaks off easily, etc! So I did something drastic last night......I got extensions! I like them a lot although its seriously taking some getting used to. They are sewn into hair that is braided onto my scalp. So basically having braids underneath feels like I'm sleeping on something all night. Hah! And straightening out the excess hair this morning took a little longer than expected. But I'm sure its all a matter of getting used to, and they should last me 3 months. So hard to imagine that I will keep these babies in till the end of April---basically the whole semester right there. Oh and I also got 'feather extensions' which is the new trendy thing in so cal right now :)
School has been decent so far. Looks like its going to be another tough semester! Thank the lord I am not working this semester. It would be pretty unbearable. I still have books to buy and lots of errands to complete this weekend. But I'll dedicate a post soon to the first week of school. Have a great weekend!
