Two days
Goodmorning! I'm kind of just sitting around the house at this moment waiting for laundry to get done so that I can get ready for work. I feel the new year swiftly approaching, with only 2 days left of 2010. Its an exciting feeling, and I know I am ready for a fresh start. Our house has been pretty crazy lately with people coming and going. No one was here all of last week, but both me & Melissa came in on Monday. Katy came in last night. Then Melissa left this morning for Vegas. And Karina comes in tonight with friends from out of town. Then after the new year it will be empty again as everyone picks up to either go home or to other parts of the country. I kind of like the hustle and bustle of winter break, its making it not so boring :) And I woke up this morning to a bag of surprises that Melissa left for us before her trip. I love this ceramic cup that she bought me, it matches my room!
I'm still compiling my list of resolutions, but my goal is to make them more realisitic this year. What are your new years resolutions?

looking forward to a new year
I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Mine was good, but not the same. I'm not going to lie, ever since half my family moved to Texas, the holidays just haven't been the same. Its sad but thats probably just the way its going to be from now on. Regardless, I am happy that I got to spend time with the family that was there and that I got to eat lots of yummy food. I didn't get any presents that stood out per say, but my mom did stock me up for the cold weather. I've been complaining about how cold its been and i think my mom took that as a sign to buy me new coats and sweaters. I am very pleased about being able to look cute in the cold weather ;)
The past few days have been actually pretty busy, although I don't have school or a lot of work. Our house has been a hot hot mess and so I decided to strip it clean. Its looks tons better but there is still a lot to be done. I've been working a few hours here and there. But mostly just preparing for new years and what not. This will be my first new years away from my parents and actually going out. Its nice being 21! Then I leave next week for Texas. Yup, very exciting. Anyone have any recommendations for things to do in dallas?
Today was spent staying inside and then sitting in barnes & noble and reading good books. Its seriously the best thing to do when its raining like crazy outside. I found myself a comfy chair in the corner and got lost in a book. I'll probably do it again over break if it continues to rain like it has been.

outfit of the day & 2011
(cardigan--old navy; v-neck--target; jeggings--khols, booties--shiekhs)
I have many more ideas and plans for 2011. I just need a fresh start and beginning and I feel like 2011 can do that for me. Its no doubt going to be another hard year as I prepare for my future and spend my summer studying away and the fall sending off applications and flying around the country for interviews. And its scary to know that friends will be doing the same as they graduate and look for jobs. This year is going to be a lot different from the past three. But I really need to focus on myself and doing whats best for me, on a variety of levels. I will dedicate a big post to these ideas/goals sometime next week. I'm very excited =)

Its the season of giving
Its that time of the year again. I love the fabulous feelings that come with christmas time and everything about it. The decorations, the cold weather, the food, every christmas song and movie that plays, you name it--I love it! Unfortunately, its hard to get caught up in everything that comes with christmas. And we often don't take a step back to realize that THERE ARE many people out there that are a lot less fortunate, and need help in some way or form. I'm planning on donating some of the money I make with my next paycheck to an organization or two, and I hope you guys will do the same. Here are a few ways you can give back this season. You will make the biggest difference in someone's life and you'll feel amazing in doing so.
1. American Red Cross. I know when most people think about the red cross they think about donating blood. But the great thing about the red cross is that there are so many ways and various things you can to do help. The cool thing is that if you go online the red cross has a "holiday catalog" that you can pick through and see how you would like to donate your money. It doesn't take a lot to help! For example, you can donate money towards buying soldiers phone cards ($20) or providing a hot meal for someone ($20). I personally, plan on donating $18.00 towards buying a blanket.
2. Embrace Global. Did you know that 450 pre-mature babies worldwide die each hour, and one of the main reasons is hypothermia? Embrace global is a charitable organization that is fighting to combat this problem through their 'infant warmer'. By 2013 they hope to save the lives of over 100,000 babies and prevent serious illness in 800,000. They also hope that this creates an effect in which GDP increases, health care costs are lowered, and ultimately reduced population growth. Any donation amount is accepted!
3. Toys for Tot. I think everyone has heard of this. The best thing are that there are participating cities all over the country, and lots of drop-off locations all over various cities. Its easy to buy a toy, and you will really make a child's future.
4. Locally. There are plenty of places locally that you can volunteer at. Soup kitchens, homless shelters, etc. You can donate your time which is always greatly appreciated and you will make the biggest difference in someone's life this season.

Sunday morning rain is falling
Happy holidays!
Once again I have no plans today. Its sunday, its raining, and i'm broke. It would be nice to see a movie, but i think i'll stay in and watch one on demand. My room has also been looking like a disaster. Its time to throw out all my old papers from this semester that I no longer need. I hate having a messy room! Tomorrow I leave to go for a week. I'm looking forward to xmas with the family and seeing old friends that I haven't seen in a while.
I also need to do some thinking about my future starting with the new year coming up. I have so many plans and changes that are needed. But most of all I need just thinking time and a clear mind. I'm going to discuss some thing with my mom as she always has honest input. I need to do whats best for me. Life doesn't always work out how you want it.

Done!
I am finally done with finals and it feels so nice. Now, I don't have a care in the world. My only priority at this point is to relax and have fun. Overall, my finals were bleh. I did okay, but I'm scared that the one I took today I completely bombed. I absolutely hate my major, I don't know why it took me 4 years to realize that science is not my thing. But its too late to switch now. I just wish when I was a freshman I would have looked more into other majors. I don't have the mindset to do organic chemistry, physics, biochem, etc! But blah blah. Enough complaining. I'll be done with my degree in 1.5 years. From there we will see what happens.
I'm off to sushi with the roomie and then getting supplies for our party tonight. Pictures and update to come!

Over the hump
I've been a bad blogger and have not updated in a few days, please excuse my absence. This past week has been defined by studying, stressing out, cups of coffee from starbucks, and an extreme lack of sleep. However, I am happy to say that as of today I am half way to the finish line. Yes, two more finals to go. My biggest final is on Thursday, but the fact that I have 3 days or so to study for it puts me at ease. Today I had two finals back to back, and its the absolute worse thing ever. I didn't even go out this weekend (gasp) because I had to balance studying for those two finals. I died afterwards! I was literally in zombie-like brain dead mode. Now I'm up studying for another final tomorrow. I'm just happy I get to sleep in :) Enough talk about school, its driving me crazy.
Like I mentioned before, I am looking forward to the end of this week. Plans include a christmas party at our house, going out in celebration of my roomie being an official college graduate, and also a school basketball game. It will be nice to rest and just do nothing! I want nothing more than to buy a good book and just sit and read all day. I don't when was the last time I picked up a book that wasn't dealing with science! Does anyone have any good recommendations? I'm pretty much open to anything.
And lately I've been getting the shopping itch. I absolutely hate it! When I have money, I don't see anything I want. And when I don't have money, there are so many things I want to buy. Lets just say that going into target was absolute torture. In the clothing section they had so many pieces I wanted; a cute dress, lace leggings, and boyfriend v-necks. I absolutely love the boyfriend v-necks. So comfortable and they go with anything. I can pair it with a blazer to dress down an outfit, wear it while working out, or just throw it on with a pair of jeans. They look great with anything. I already have two from target, and the fact that they were on sale made it so hard to resist. They also had bras, socks, and tights on sale. Yup! I was a good girl and didn't buy anything. But I might go back at the end of this week and get a thing or two--hah!
Its back to hitting the books! Thanks for putting up with me. I promise after this week, there will be lots more to look forward to.

Friday Favorites--Christmas Photos
Good morning! I'm feeling pretty good right now. Its been a good start to the morning, especially since I got my coffee in :) I have so much going on this weekend and next week in general. Its going to be rough. I am studying ALL DAY today. I'm going to be sitting in front of my computer working on two study guides. I am then going to retreat to the library later this evening to dive into physics homework. I haven't gotten much sleep this week. I think I've been going to bed around 1:00 or 2:00 every night. Tonight I am going to be a grandma though and am heading to bed early. I have a loooonnng day of work tomorrow. I have to be at work from 5:30am-1:00pm. We are having a special "breakfast with santa" event for the kids tomorrow. Its going to be cute and I'm excited. It just sucks waking up that early on top of being stressed out from finals. I just can't wait for December 16th at 3:00pm, I will be a free woman!
In response to finals week and an overwhelming amount of work, I went ahead and decided to separate myself from facebook. I had my roommate change my password so I can no longer log into facebook even if I wanted to. Its weird feeling so disconnected from everyone. But I like it! I do feel like as a result I've been way more productive.
Lastly, the roomies and I have decided to throw a christmas party at the end of finals next week. I'm actually excited because we have a good amount of people coming so far. We are going to be making gingerbread houses, decorating cookies, playing games, and then ending the night with good ole college drinking and dancing. It will be a great way to end the semester with great people and say bye to some friends who are leaving (they were studying abroad so they are flying back to europe). I need to figure out what to wear. I guess the ugly sweater is standard--right?
I leave you with my friday favorites. Here are some of my favorite christmas themed pictures. Enjoy!

Wishlist Wednesday--christmas list
Today has been so unproductive and no bueno. It started off with me not feeling well and deciding to come home instead of staying at school to study. I missed one class as I thought I should sleep and get rest so that I could get work done the rest of the day. When I woke up I decided I would go out to get food so that I could be happy and full of energy to get a lot of work done. But then out of all things, my car doesn't start up! It turns out I needed to get a new battery for my car. The good thing was that it was pretty inexpensive ($125) and took only 20 minutes to install. I'm finally home, and I'm going to jump in the shower before I start my long long night of typing up study guides and studying for practicals. I hate finals! This will all be over soon enough....
I thought it would be ideal to put up my christmas wishlist for this weeks 'wishlist wednesday'. For once, I don't have a lot to ask for. Usually, I'm not afraid to ask for one expensive item whether that be a new camera, cell phone, or ipod. But I realized, I have everything I could possibly want and need. And I fell like the extra's I should be able to get myself. Plus, this has been a very tough year my family financially. I do not want to burden them anymore, and i'm grateful for what I do have. But as usual, my mom did ask for my wishlist. So this is the list of things I gave her.
1. hair done w/ extensions
I hate my hair right now. I had to get it cut because it was extremely damaged. To top it off my hair is extremely short and layered, which makes it hard to wear it down. I always have to keep it pinned up in some way so that it doesn't look funny. I don't even want super long hair, I just want my hair all one length and styled really nice. So I would love if my parents paid for me to get my hair done. Right now these are the cuts I'm looking at. I also want to put a little color in it.
2. new iphone case
honestly anything cute will do, but i especially like this hk one
3. a new peacoat
4. jeans
(i asked for 2 pairs since i've kind of been wearing the same 4 pairs over & over)
5. giftcards. I named places like starbucks (i drink a lot of coffee since i'm a student), target (since i love everything at target), and sephora and victorias secret.
Some things I would buy:
6. white converse sneakers
What are you all asking for this christmas?

10 things about me--get to know me!
I felt crappy today, like my body just reversed back to sickness. I'm definitely going to lay in bed for a while and get some rest. Being at school for 6 hours straight did not help my health, I'm sure. In the mean time I decided I should do an introductory post so everyone could get to know who I am, instead of being some cyber stranger. Here goes......
1. My name is not really Bre. In fact its my nickname. But my real name has weird spelling and people pronounce it wrong. So I like going by Bre. The truth is I have a bazillon nicknames and to this day I still get a new about every month. I think I hold the world record for nicknames.
(Me looking akward in Oregon this summer haha)
2. I like to travel, but its been so long since I've done any "real" traveling. My parents used to take us on a lot of trips when we were younger, but I got into college and the economy started to decline and the trips basically stopped. I want to make it to all 50 states & all over the world. I just know its going to be a while before I can do that. States I've been to: California (lived here all my life), Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, New York, and Illinois. Major cities: San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, NYC, Chicago, Orlando, New Orleans. Other countries: Mexico, Jamaica, cayman islands, belize, the bahamas. Top place I want to go to: Spain!!!!
3. I'm a very social person. I love being around friends and having a good time. I also like meeting new people and establishing relationships. I honestly, did not use to be this way. It took moving away from home and being independent to help me loosen up and actually be a little more outgoing. My perfect weekend is going out and dancing with my girls and just acting silly, stupid, and young.
4. I love the idea, thought, and everything that is encompassed by love. Unfortunately, I'm the type of girl that loves being in relationships but hasn't been in one in a really long time. I'm looking for my mr. prince charming (haha yeaah right) to come sweep me off me feet. Actually, I am not very picky. But if I had it my way, he would be tall, dark, handsome, has a bright future ahead of him, is passionate about something, and loves me for who I am. I've had a bad case of "losers" these past two years and I'm so over it. I've actually given up in trying. Hopefully love will come and knock me down soon.
6. I'm allergic to peanuts along with other random foods. Basically, I'm a weirdo and have only had 1 peanut butter and jelly sandwich in my 21 years of life.
(My grandpa when he was in the army)
7. My goals in life? Ehhh, well I'm not your average blogspot girl. No, I'm not very creative. No, I don't want to open a boutique. No, I don't want to do fashion. (even though I love all these things!) I want to be an Optometrist! Random right? I feel like vision is often taken for granted, but so vital to us and our well-being. I'm very passionate about it because my grandfather was diagnosed with glaucoma when I was younger. Now, I hope to help the world in memory of him. My ultimate goal would be to open a vision clinic in Haiti or Africa. Right now I'm just working on finishing my bachelors of science in Biology, and apply for optometry school in the summer.
8. I love making lists. I have to purposely stop myself from making them in my entries! I mean I will include them every now and then and especially with themed posts. Hey, I'm doing it right now lol
9. I am deathly afraid of bees and cockroaches. I mean I seriously have a panic attack if I see either or.
10. I love love love love love.....chocolate! Mmmmmm.

monday bahhhh
Sunday was going good until I suddenly started falling apart. I started getting sick! I just couldn't believe it. I had to leave the library because my head was throbbing and my neck and shoulders started aching. I ALWAYS get those symptoms when I'm about to get hit with a cold. I came home made myself some chicken noodle soup, popped some zicam, and then ad advil. Today I feel tons better, still not my 100% self but better. I'm glad I went home when I did and nipped this thing in the bud. I'll just have to continue taking advil so that I can continue being productive. This is a glimpse of what I wore today, I paired it with skinny jeans and black toms.
Today I felt the finals atmosphere in the air. Its not officially finals week, but a lot of professors will give their finals early. As for me I have two finals this week in the lab portion of my classes. I'm having my roommate change my password on fb as of tomorrow so that I won't be super distracted. This is my toughest semester yet, and I basically need to get A's on all my finals. Seems almost impossible, but I have faith that I can do it :) Tonight my plan is to make myself comfortable in the basement of the library to study for my physics lab final, which should be one of my easier ones. But first I'm going to stay at home and work on my psychology paper, eat, and hopefully squeeze a nap in.
Hah! I don't look very excited about this.
I have a pretty big post planned for tomorrow. Have a nice afternoon & evening everyone!
1. plaid top-wet seal 2. long black cardigan-h&m
3. belt-some boutique in OB

Lazy weekend
I feel like I went from being completely productive to a bum. What happened?? I think I was just exhausted from running around the past few days that my body just wanted to rest. I went to bed at 9:00pm yesterday, which is absolutely unheard of. I go to bed around 1:00am on school nights and 2:30am on the weekends. I must admit though, it felt so nice to just sleep. I woke up this morning and made myself a big cup of hot chocolate and a poptart. I NEVER eat breakfast, so this was actually quite nice. The unfortunate thing is that my computer has been on the fritz lately. It seriously took 30 minutes for it to start up this morning. I'm thinking it has something to do with a statistics program I had to download for class. FML! I'm probably going to take it off my computer by the end of this week, but I need it to practice for my exam on Thursday.
So I must admit, these next two weeks I am probably going to be a somewhat repetitive blogger. I have FINALS spread across these next two weeks so of course my mind is going to be on nothing but studying, studying, and studying. I do have some great posts lined up though, so I won't be a complete bore. Just letting you know that I won't be a completely amazing blogger these next two weeks, especially next week when I have 4 finals.
Today I need to be productive to make up for my lazy day yesterday. I have lots and lots to do :) I'm actually going to be in the library all day today to meet up with a friend and then study my little behind off. Here is my daily list:
1. Finish my biostats quiz
2. Finish my psychology paper
3. FOCUS agenda
4. Study for biochem
5. Memorize 3 Amino Acids
6. Start typing up my biostats study guide

Friday Favorites--Christmas movies
Today was a very long busy day and I'm ready to end it on a fabulous note. I got about 5 hours asleep, went to school for 3 hours, came home took a quick 1 hour nap, went to work for 4 hours, and now I'm home. I'm going downtown tonight (my first time since being 21) for my good friend's birthday. Although I'm exhausted, I'm really looking forward to going out and celebrating with her and a ton of her friends. Plus, this will be my last time going out for the next 2 weeks as I have finals and what not. Got to live it up ;)
I present to you my friday favorites. I plan on making a list every friday of my favorite things, and they will usually be themed. This month's friday favorites will all be holiday themed, starting with movies.
1. Nightmare Before Christmas. Not a typical holiday movie but still it has a bit of christmas feeling. I love everything about this movie and its actually one of my favorite movies in general.
2. Elf! The sad thing is that I just recently watched this movie and I'm glad I did. Its absolutely hilarious, as with any movie with Will Ferrel.
3. A Christmas Story. Its a pure classic and I love that they show it for 24 hours on christmas day. I'll never get tired of it "You'll shoot your eye out!"
I'm going to start getting ready! Everyone have a great night and weekend.

Thursdays got me down
By Thursday I am usually feeling the worst of the week. I'm drained from working hard from earlier on in the week, but its not quite the weekend yet. I find myself wanting to do nothing more but nap on Thursday afternoons. Today felt a bit worse than usual since I found out that I didn't do so hot on my biochem exam, even though I found out with the curve I am passing the class....whew. I also left my wallet at home which meant I had to be at school from 8:00-2:00 with nothing in my belly. By 2:00pm I was feeling ever so shitty. But I am okay now which is good.
I am proud to say that after class today (and after eating) I came home and cleaned up my room. Why do I feel like its necessary to keep boxes? I had boxes taking up so much space in the back of my closest, it was just silly. But I feel better now that things aren't so stuffy. The problem is though, that I need more space. I have a tiny tiny room--i'm sure the size of most people's closet. I really want to purchase a new dresser, I feel like it would make my room look a little bit more crowded but would allow me to have much more space in my closet. I just want a cheap one from ikea. I'll probably just get one off of craigslists to save money. I think the malm with 4 or 5 drawers would be amazing ;)

I am off to study now for a few hours in the library. Finals are coming up and I need to stay on top of everything so I don't crash and burn. I'm looking forward to my first 'Friday Favorites' post. Have a good evening!

Decembuurrr
Its officially the month of December which has to be one of my favorite months of the year and all for good reason. Probably the only thing I don't like about December is the chilly weather, but even that has positive sides (cuddling, hot coco, etc). This also marks the 25 day count down until Christmas. I love the holiday season-- in fact today I kicked off my holiday season properly. Me and one of the roomies busted out our holiday decorations complete with a christmas tree and menorah. Our house looks so cute when its decorated festively. Were probably going to add more within the next week, so I'll wait to take pictures until then.
Today I've been pretty drained, although I'm okay now since I just had a coffee. Lately, I've been putting in lots of hours in the library studying for my physics exam. I took the exam this morning and it went okay ;/ But bleh it physics. I thought I was feeling fine, but by my next class later in the afternoon I started feeling incredibly tired. In fact my friend started laughing at me in class because I was nodding off. Hah! I'm such a grandma. I find myself nodding off in class more than the average student. But today I had a legit excuse. I still have not napped yet even though my body needs it. I would much rather get some work out the way and eat dinner and then just go to bed early. I have a biostats homework assignment to do and I want to start putting together my study guide for psychology at the very least. Its nearing finals time and I'm starting to feel the pressure.
So at the beginning of every month I like to make a list of goals that I would like to accomplish. It helps me stay focused and on track. And it helps me stay on track of my new years resolutions (even though I didn't make any for this year). But I love setting goals and reaching them, it makes me feel successful and good about myself. Of course I've made some for December, so here goes.
1. Stay on top of my school work
2. Kick ass on my finals
3. Take fish oil daily
4. Watch my spending on the weekends
5. Fast food only once a week
I'm off to get my homework done. But on a side note: I'm still getting this blog together. I honestly won't have a lot of time to make it look pretty with finals and everything. But hopefully buy the end of the month I will get it looking all pretty ;)
